Friday night we went to a Christmas party for student ministry workers at church – yup, December is so packed it’s hard to get everyone together! Then we headed up the highway for a high school football game. A drive that should have taken 20 minutes ended up taking 45, and when we got there the closest parking was 2 miles away from the stadium. We didn’t go to the game. There was no way we could haul Captain Chaos 2 miles to the stadium and then 2 miles back after the game. So we drove back home and started getting ready for the party.
We had a great Saturday celebrating Captain Chaos’ birthday with the family. We decided that he really is too little now for a big party with “friends” (do 2-year-olds even have friends?), so we decided to have our family over for a potato bar, cake and ice cream. We made baked potatoes in the crock pot and provided chili, barbecue, cheese, sour cream, etc. for toppings. We also had an Elmo birthday cake, Elmo decorations, and an Elmo centerpiece. What can I say? The kid loves Elmo. We ate and watched a little football and opened presents. It was a good time!
