Thirteen Years ago today I married my best friend. Sadly, I do not have a wedding photo handy – they’re all in storage at the moment. But, picture if you will, two very young people, very much in love.
It’s been a wild ride, all these years together. Three babies, two moves, multiple jobs, short commutes, long commutes, those days of sharing one car. There’s been fights, arguments, heated disagreements. But there’s been more fun, joking, teasing, and kisses.
This is the first anniversary that we’ve spent apart. He’s in another city for work. Most people are shocked at that revelation, but really, it’s okay. I miss him of course, but in the scheme of things, it’s just not that big of a deal. We will celebrate this weekend the same way we would have if he had been here in town.
We’ve talked today several times, and we’ve texted. Thank goodness for technology, it makes these extended separations (that really aren’t that long) bearable.
I am so happy that we took that leap 13 years ago (complete with baking our own wedding cake). It was the single best decision I have ever made. So glad I said yes, even more glad he asked in the first place!
Love you hon. Thanks for 13 wonderful years and here’s to many, many more years together.
