Moving is super fun y’all! Really!!
Okay, so did the exclamation points give me away? Or is it that anyone that has ever changed a place of residence knows that it is anything but fun. Stressful? Yes. Hard? Yup. Fun? Not so much.
On the other hand, being in our house has been fun. Watching the kids rediscover some of our stuff that has been in storage for 18+ months. Unpacking things that we had forgotten we had. Getting the house ready for Christmas, which was, by the way, when we realized that we hadn’t put up our big tree since 2009!
I think that in the last few days we really feel like we are starting to settle in a little bit. I don’t really know how to describe it. We unpacked the basics immediately, but you still feel unsettled. In the last few days something shifted, for me at least. Maybe it was actually working in the yard with Party Boy over the weekend. Maybe it was getting a handle on the unpacked boxes in the game room. I really can’t say. I just feel more at home.
And with that, I have to publicly acknowledge two wonderful and amazing people – my Mom and Dad. I don’t really know if they had any idea what they were getting into when they offered to let us move in with them during the construction process. Ha! At the very least they had no idea that we would be camping in their house for 13 months! And yet, they graciously let us move in and take over the place sharing their space, their TV, their time, and their dog. Thanks for letting us crash in the spare bedroom. Thanks for letting the kids take over the rest of the house. Thanks for sharing your cable and your internet connection. You’ll never know how truly thankful we are and that we can never repay you for what you did for us in the last year. We love you guys. So. Much.
